Our Mission The Four Legs and Fur Foundation is a charitable animal health organization providing financial assistance to owners of critically ill companion animals by underwriting emergency veterinary medical or surgical costs incurred for animals which would not otherwise have access to urgent, lifesaving veterinary care. Our Goals To end the pointless suffering and euthanasia of companion animals that would have benefited from lifesaving veterinary care but for the high costs associated with such care. The Four Legs and Fur Fund will offer financial assistance to owners of companion animals who need veterinary care beyond the normal expenses of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, food and routine veterinary care. Requests for financial assistance will be generated by the treating veterinarian. The Fund will offer two levels of financial assistance: 1. Donation made to the veterinarian to cover the cost of the procedure/surgery. Eligibility for a donation is based upon the financial need of the owner. 2. Low-interest or interest-free loan offered to the owner who does not qualify for a donation. Additionally, the Four Legs and Fur Fund will pay 100% of the veterinary costs for any companion animal that is surrendered as a result of the owner's inability or unwillingness to pay for the surgery/care. The Fund will foster the animal until it can be placed up for adoption. The Four Legs & Fur Foundation will create a "drug sharing" program to help offset the high cost of prescription medication. Many times owners of deceased animals have leftover, unused medication that goes to waste. By creating a drug sharing network, we can help defray the high costs of prescription medications. By working with the veterinarian, we can help supply medication at no charge to indigent or needy owners in conjunction with the animal's care and veterinarian recommended course of treatment. The Four Legs & Fur Foundation will create a foster network for surrendered or stray animals brought in for treatment at an authorized veterinarian's office. Additionally, the Foundation will partner with local, established foster agencies and will assume financial responsibility for any animal placed on behalf of the Foundation with that agency. Who We Are The Four Legs and Fur Foundation is a non-profit organization that was started by three animal lovers who saw a need to help other pet owners. |
